BEFORE YOUR LIP BLUSH APPOINTMENT

Preparing properly for your lip blush appointment is essential for the best results and smooth healing. Please read the following information carefully.

Lip Preparation

Healthy, well-hydrated lips allow for better pigment retention and more even results.

  • Begin hydrating and moisturizing your lips daily at least 7 days prior to your appointment

  • Apply a nourishing lip balm consistently

  • You may gently exfoliate your lips 2–3 days before your appointment if needed

  • Avoid over-exfoliating or irritating the lip area

If your lips are excessively dry, cracked, or peeling on the day of your appointment, your service may need to be rescheduled.

Cold Sore (HSV) Disclosure

Lip blush is a cosmetic tattoo procedure and may trigger a cold sore (herpes simplex virus) outbreak, even in individuals who have never previously experienced one.

  • If you have ever had cold sores, or believe you may be susceptible, it is strongly recommended that you consult with a licensed healthcare provider prior to your appointment to discuss whether preventative care may be appropriate for you.

  • The artist does not diagnose medical conditions or prescribe medications.

  • Some individuals choose to take over-the-counter supplements such as L-lysine before and after cosmetic tattoo procedures. This is optional and should be discussed with a healthcare provider before use.

  • No preventative measure can guarantee that a cold sore outbreak will not occur.

If you arrive with an active cold sore or skin infection, your appointment will be rescheduled for your safety and proper healing.

PMU AFTER-CARE

Permanent Eyebrow Procedures:

Day of Procedure + Days 2-14:

  1.  Begin by washing your hands.

  2.  Approximately 1-2 hours after your procedure, use a clean cotton pad or napkin and the cleanser to gently clean the brows to remove excess lymphatic fluid (which is completely normal). Please avoid scrubbing! Then, gently pat your brows with a dry napkin and allow them to dry before applying ointment.

  3. Use a rice-grain amount of the provided balm, and apply a sheer layer to your brows with the applicator stick or a q-tip (Do not use your fingers to apply balm, due to bacteria).

NOTE: Your brows should feel hydrated while also being able to breathe. This helps promote the healing process. You can apply the balm morning and night if eyebrows feel dry or itchy.

During The Healing Process:

  1. No sweating or swimming for 10-14 days

  2. Avoid direct sun exposure (wear a hat)

  3. Avoid sleeping on your face. Change your current pillowcase for a clean one – this will help to avoid premature flaking which could cause loss of pigment. * Tip: Use an airplane pillow while sleeping to help avoid waking up on your side or stomach.

  4. Do not touch, pick, or scratch the brows. Treat them like you would an open wound. Picking at the scabs can pull the pigment out of the skin!

  5. Do not apply makeup or products onto the brows to avoid infection.

  6. When they’re fully healed, avoid using anti-aging and acne products on them.

Lip Blush Procedures:
  • Swelling, redness, and tenderness are normal immediately after the procedure

  • Color will appear much brighter and darker for the first few days

  • Peeling or flaking is a normal part of healing

  • Final healed color typically appears lighter and softer after healing is complete

  • Healing timelines vary by individual.

Days 1-2:

  1. Following the procedure, your lips will most likely be swollen…no worries, this is completely normal! The swelling can last between 24 and 48 hours.

  2. Gently blot lips as needed during the first 24 hours to remove lymph fluid, keep lips clean and dryAfter the first few hours, please apply the provided balm at least three times a day to avoid letting your lips dry out.

  3. When drinking, please use a straw to avoid any potential contamination to your healing lips. When eating, be sure to avoid oily, spicy, and heavily salted foods. Also, after each meal, gently rinse and clean your lips with water, then dry them with a clean paper towel, and finally reapply the balm.

Days 3-6:

  1. At this stage in the healing process, your lips will begin to feel dry and start peeling.

  2. DO NOT pick your lips. Instead, let the flaking happen naturally.

  3. You can help mitigate the appearance of dryness by consistently hydrating your lips with the provided balm, Aquaphor, or Vaseline.

Week 2:

  1. Your lips are no longer peeling, the color is lighter, and you can resume your normal routine!

  2. Your lips will continue to fully heal for up to 6 weeks. Each week, more color will surface; however, it’s still very important to keep the lips hydrated to ensure the best healed final result!

* Most Importantly…ensure you are consistently hydrating and applying balm! *

What to Avoid:

  • NO Spicy foods, hot liquids, alcohol (could burn/tingle/irritate)

  • NO Excessive sweating

  • NO Kissing

  • NO Direct sun exposure

  • NO Rubbing/picking the lips

  • NO No makeup (besides balm) on the lips until fully healed (~10 days)

  • NO Facial treatments

  • NO Abrasive materials such as towels

  • NO Swimming, salt water, direct water spray on the lips

TATTOO AFTER-CARE

Body Tattoo Procedures:

Right After your Appointment:

  1. You will have a “second skin” sticker applied. This covering provides a protective layer, preventing bacteria from getting into your skin. It also protects the tattoo from rubbing against your clothes and getting irritated.

  2. Please keep the sticker on your skin for at least 2-3 days.

The First Week:

  1. After 2-3 days of having your sticker on, take it off while taking a warm (not hot) shower by gently sliding it off the skin by pulling the lowest corner down. Please do it carefully.

After the sticker (or plastic wrap) is removed:

  1. With clean hands, gently wash the tattoo with warm water and fragrance-free soap.

  2. Pat your skin dry with a soft, clean cloth (paper towel).

  3. Apply and gently massage a small amount of the ointment provided or a fragrance-free and alcohol-free moisturizer onto the tattoo. Something like Eucerin intensive repair, Lubriderm, etc.

Healing Process:

For the first 2 weeks, wash your tattoo twice a day with unscented soap, and apply a fragrance-free moisturizer by gently massaging it into your skin with clean hands. As the tattoo begins to heal, you might experience itching of the skin and some mild irritation - please DO NOT scratch the tattoo. Pat it gently with a clean, wet paper towel to ease the itching once you wash your tattoo.

SPECIAL ATTENTION

While your tattoo heals, YOU SHOULD:

  • Wear sun-protective clothing whenever you go outside; however, DO NOT APPLY SUN SCREEN on your fresh tattoo.

  • Gently wash your tattoo area (WITH CLEAN HANDS) twice a day with fragrance-free soap and water, and gently pat dry before reapplying the moisturizer.

  • Apply UNSCENTED lotion.

  • Contact a doctor immediately if you experience any symptoms of infection or other problems.

DO NOT:

  • DO NOT use Neosporin or Aquaphor

  • DO NOT touch your tattoo with dirty hands.

Remember, your tattoo is an open wound - keep it clean.

  • DO NOT scratch, peel, or pick it.

  • DO NOT cover your tattoo with sunblock until it's fully healed.

  • DO NOT wear tight clothing over a fresh tattoo.

  • DO NOT go swimming or immerse your body in water for a longer time (showers are fine).

  • DO NOT attend sauna or hot yoga.

  • Try to prevent sweating as much as you can.
